Our mission at the First United Presbyterian Church of Pana, Illinois, is to enhance the spiritual life and care for the souls of our members and our neighbors in a worldwide community by loving God and honoring all humankind. The synergism created by the members of our church results in a spiritual enrichment for the lives of all who worship with us. The Greatest joy of our church is the 'togetherness' of the congregation. We work together doing what needs to be done. The greatest challenges and frustrations are the lack of finances and the small number of new members. |

The holidays of Easter and Christmas bring our extended church family together with special services. Also important in bringing the church family together are frequent potlucks and the coffee and cookies after each Sunday service. Enjoyed by all members of the congregation, they have helped create the close-knit fabric of our 'family'. Our members describe the church as caring, warm and friendly; visitors find it welcoming and feel the church has an interest in them. |

The worship life of our church is primarily Sunday school and Sunday morning worship. The local radio station broadcasts our Sunday service live, reaching those up to 30 miles away. Special worship services include Maundy Thursday, Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Easter sunrise service, Pentecost Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and World Day of Prayer. Many of these are community services shared with other congregations. We have an active youth organization, with dedicated leaders, and Bible School in the summer. Each Sunday we have a fellowship time with coffee and cookies. Potlucks (after all, we are presbyterians) are frequently enjoyed by the congregation. The church is also fully handicap accessible and all are welcome to join our spiritual family. | |
